Dujiangyan stands on this 2000-year-old irrigation marvel and truly feels the genius of ancient Chinese engineering. The power of the Min River, harnessed so beautifully is humbling.
Panda Valley is pure magic! Watching giant pandas (& maybe some fluffy red pandas) munch on bamboo in their forested sanctuary was an absolute dream come true. Cuteness overload guaranteed!
And there is the brave Sichuan spice! The communal thrill of bubbling hotpot, with its numbing mala kick and endless delicious dips, was unforgettable. Found my happy place in those fiery depths (and with plenty of other local bites too!).
But beyond the sights and tastes, it was Sichuan’s peaceful life that resonated most. That unique, unhurried rhythm – sipping tea in a quiet courtyard, strolling lush parks, feeling the gentle pulse of the city – it’s pure tranquility. Chengdu isn’t just a destination; it’s a calming state of mind.
